IMPERIAL COUNTY

  CA-7 Extension
To improve traffic flow between I-8 and the US/Mexico border crossing at Calexico, the existing CA-7 highway will be extended to I-8 as a 4-lane divided highway. This project will help with goods movement, which has increased due to NAFTA.

CA-86 Expressway
The existing CA-86 is a major route for truck traffic, and there is a high accident rate on this road. To improve safety and improve truck movement, the road will be upgraded to a four-lane expressway. Some new segments will be built, including a bypass around Brawley. When completed, this will provide a continuous expressway between El
Centro and the Riverside County line.

CA-98 Widening
To accommodate increasing truck and commuter traffic between routes 111 and 7, CA-98 will be widened. This project is still in the study phase.

CA-111 Expressway
CA-111 is the main road serving the Calexico port of entry, and it needs to be improved to accommodate NAFTA and farm traffic. This project will upgrade CA-111 to a four-lane expressway between Ross Road and CA-78. This, along with improvements to other roads, will help trucks move more smoothly through the communities of Imperial County.
