ORANGE COUNTY

CA-55 North Improvement
The northerly segment of the Costa Mesa Freeway will have two additional lanes added, and the existing lanes will be widened to improve safety. The freeways interchange ramps with surface streets and the Garden Grove Freeway (CA-22) will also be improved.

Garden Grove Freeway Improvement Study
Caltrans study
OCTA study
Among the options being considered to improve the Garden Grove Freeway (CA-22) are HOV lanes, direct HOV connectors at major interchanges, and a new expressway connecting the freeway to downtown Santa Ana. This could bring congestion relief to one of only two east/west freeways in Orange County.

I-405/CA-73 Improvements
This project will involve the relocation of various entrance and exit ramps on the San Diego and San Joaquin Hills Freeways to improve traffic flow on the freeways and surface streets surrounding the 405/73 interchange. Some ramps will be redesigned, while others will be closed and replaced with new ramps elsewhere.

I-5 North Improvement Project
This is the last phase of the very successful project to widen I-5 in Orange County. This will push the widening from Beach Boulevard up to the Los Angeles County line, so the freeway will have consistent width when the segment in Los Angeles County is widened.
