RIVERSIDE COUNTY PROJECTS

Corona (71) Expressway Improvement
This project will upgrade the segment of Corona Expressway (CA-71) in Riverside County to a 4-lane expressway, and improve the CA-71/CA-91 interchange.

Truck Climbing Lanes I-215/CA-60
Truck climbing lanes will be added to the Moreno Valley Freeway in Riverside and Moreno Valley. This will improve traffic flow and safety on this heavily-travelled freeway and facilitate goods movement.

Two County Corridor Study
This is a study for a new north/south highway east of I-215, connecting the cities of San Bernardino and Moreno Valley. This highway would provide significant relief to the overburdened I-215 freeway. It would also be able to serve the transportation needs of the rapidly growing Riverside County communities, as I-215 is farther west than the communities experiencing significant growth.

CA-79 realignment/Winchester to Temecula Corridor
Riverside County Transportation Commision study
Riverside County Integrated Project (multi-agency) study
Plans are currently being considered to upgrade the CA-79 corridor to expressway between Lamb Canyon Road and Winchester Road. Proposals to build a freeway south to Temecula are also being considered. This new highway would provide a third north/south route for regional traffic, and it would serve the communities of Temecula, Winchester, and Hemet, all of which are expected to see significant population increases. This route would also relieve congestion on the I-15 and I-215 freeways.

Hemet to Corona/Lake Elsinore Corridor
A number of different options are being studied for an east/west freeway between I-15 and Hemet. Some plans call for a new freeway between Hemet and the Orange County line in the Ramona Expressway/Cajalco Road corridor or along CA-74. If extended into Orange County, this project could provide significant relief to the overburdened Riverside Freeway (CA-91). Also under consideration are plans to route this highway into the city of Riverside, possibly along the Mockingbird Canyon or Van Buren Boulevard corridors.
